Dickson County is home to Montgomery Bell State Park - one of the largest parks in Tennessee. The county also boasts the Renaissance Center, Clement Railroad Hotel Museum, extensive local parks systems and recreational areas, along with several events in the various towns. The county's six incorporated communities grew up along the railroad from Nashville to the Tennessee River. Charlotte, the historic county seat, has the state's oldest working courthouse, and at one time was in consideration to become the capital of Tennessee.
